How do I edit a Category?

To edit an existing Category (or Subcategory), click on Admin from the top menu and select “Manage Categories” from the Categories section.

Note:

  • Any edits or additions to your Categories or Subcategories will require you to also update and save your giving page to reflect your changes (see also).
  • Editing the name of a Category or Subcategory will automatically update that all transactions associated to that Category or Subcategory to reflect your changes.

Manage Categories

You can manage existing categories and subcategories, or add new ones.  The table displays the Active Categories by default, but you can view Inactive Categories by selecting the appropriate tab.  You can edit, copy, or delete existing categories using the Actions icons in the table.

You can make a Category “Inactive” by deselecting the “Make Active” check box and clicking [Update] to save your changes.  Inactive categories do not appear on any Giving Page or in any selection or drop-down lists when assigning categories to a Giving Page or Event.  Note- Making a Category “Active” again, does not automatically assign it back to your Giving Pages.  You must manually reassign categories to any desired Giving Pages when making the Category “Active” again.

Manage Subcategories

To make changes to subcategories, you need to edit the parent category, and a list of subs will display that are tied to it.  You can edit, copy, or delete a subcategory using the Action icons in the table.

You can make a Subcategory “Inactive” by deselecting the “Make Active” check box and clicking [Update] to save your changes.  Inactive subcategories do not appear on any Giving Page or in any selection or drop-down lists when assigning categories to a Giving Page or Event.  Note- Making a Subcategory “Active” again, does not automatically assign it back to your Giving Pages.  You must manually reassign categories to any desired Giving Pages when making the Subcategory “Active” again.
